8/28/2009 12:00:00 AM - Heads up, everyone. Whoever has already registered for the event via the Event Site can now log in using their account details and use the newly-activated "Download Registration Card" option to print out a small personalized barcode card. It is by no means compulsory (so don’t fret if you forget, or can’t be bothered to do it), but it will certainly speed up your on-site registration significantly.

So, anyone who is planning to visit and has yet to book a room, please contact Mr. Trachiotis BEFORE the 25th of August. The venue’s room availability is already severely limited.

Still, you can see the titles, and just key, juicy bits. We already know exactly what the prize for the main and secondary events will be, but we caaaan't teeeeell you yeeeet. ;)

When you register, the system automatically twits about it through our L5R2009 Twitter account, including some registration statistics (such as total numbe of players already registered, clan breakdown etc). Unless you have specified otherwise, the information twitted about your registration is completely anonymous.

Welcome!
We bid you welcome to the event registration site for the 2009 L5R European
Championships, taking place in the Stratos Vassilikos Hotel in Athens,
Greece, from Friday the 4th to
Sunday the 6th of this coming September. Whether you have already subscribed
to our event blog or not, we suggest you keep
visiting it often - we'll be posting various and sundry items as things get more
organized, including some sneak peaks of promos, storyline prizes and the like.
Of course, since the blog is fully integrated with Twitter, you can also opt to
follow our Twitter account to stay
abreast of anything new.
If you're here, you probably know what the European Championship is for L5R - if
by some off chance you don't, allow us to enlighten you: The EC is a chance to
compete against the best European players in grueling games that will test your
skills to the limit. It is also a chance to significantly affect the course of
history in the world of Rokugan, as the storyline prize for the main event is
always something big.
Over the past year, we've been listening to what many of you had to say, and we
took it all to heart. Many complained that the EC should be special, not just
another big Kotei. Well, our intention is for this year's EC to be exactly that:
special. We have gone all out, sparing no effort in order to plan a complete,
all-around L5R experience. We have booked all the conferencing facilities of the
hotel, to have ample room for all players. We have technological support the
likes of which you've never before seen in events. And we have planned
extra-curricular activities that should keep you occupied between and after your
games. Couple all that with the fact that the weather in Greece is still sweet
in September, and you'll see why we think that you should make the trip.
Oh, and did we mention the EC is the first major European tournament where
Celestial Edition will be legal?
Why Pre-register?
As more and more details become available, they will be posted on this site and
on our event blog. We have tried to
keep both as clean and as informative as possible, so please feel free to wander
around checking out the various sections. You are very welcome to plan your trip
and come without pre-registering.
However, keep in mind that our pre-registration system offers several additional
services.
By pre-registering, our system will:
- Guarantee you a spot in the first qualifier.
- Allow us to verify your seed (if you have any)so you get to
jump into the main event without going through the grinders
- Allow you to declare that you are searching for roommates and will attempt to
bring you into contact with other people interested in sharing a room.
- Mark you as eligible to participate in Clan-specific questionnaires that will
affect the flavour of the storyline prizes offered to your Clan.
- Grant you free admission to Saturday night's entertainment
- Greatly speed up your on-the-spot registration by providing you with a
printed Event ID Card and reducing the time spent in the registration queues
- Possibly make you eligible for a surprise contest to be announced a bit later
- Get all warm and fuzzy inside, knowing that its creators will have a better
idea of how many people will be showing up to the tournament :)
To support the above services, pre-registration will result in the automatic creation
of an online account for you, based on your email and an automatically-generated
password. You can use the login box to the left at any time after registering to
access your account.
Trivial Pursuit - L5R Enlightenment Edition!
We have decided that at some point during the spirit-related activities slot on Sunday (see schedule), we will be holding a
Trivial Pursuit: L5R Enlightenment Edition game! The game will have specific participants and will be played on a board looking like the map of Rokugan,
borrowing some rules from the original Trivial Pursuit game and combining them with some derived from our very own twisted imagination.
But in order to build a good-sized deck of questions for the participants, we need your help!
Are you an L5R Trivia buff? Are you the fluff-meister of your gaming group? Well, this one's for you. Fill in the fields below and submit your question
(and answer)!
A set of the best questions will be selected and incorporated into the game, and full credit will be given to the submitter!
The categories in which you may submit your trivia are as follows:
- WATER/Rules: Either current rules, or memorable rulings of the past (e.g. KB/Gozoku errata)
- AIR/RPG History: History of Rokugan from the RPG supplements
- FIRE/Past Events + Results History: Memorable events from past events (e.g. "Which Clan won the most Koteis in 2008?", "Which year Unicorn didn't dominate the Kotei season?")
- EARTH/Rogukan Geography: Rokugan world Geography including fluff (e.g. "What lies to the North of the Dragon Lands?", "Who is the bartender of the Lonely Bushi club?")
- VOID/Card Statistics: Statistics of cards - while this can include Force ratings and the like, we prefer stats that reference an entire card set (e.g. "How many females did the Scorpion Clan have in Gold Edition?")
PLEASE ENSURE YOUR ANSWER CONTAINS A REFERENCE WE CAN CROSS-CHECK! Whether it's printed on a card (stats, flavour text), on a site (URL) or a book (name of supplement and page), please don't forget to include the reference!
